Choose Your Instrument: Acoustic Guitar, Saxophone, Trumpet, Violin, Harmonica, or Acoustic Bass
Unleash the Potential of Your Acoustic Guitar
Enhance your guitar with numerous expressive and warm-sounding tone options. The selection ranges from an “unplugged” live sound to a fingerpicking style typical for country and blues. Thanks to the stunning effects and acoustic guitar modeling, you’ll explore completely new sonic territory with your instrument.
Acoustic Guitar Modelling
With emulations and modeling options, you add acoustic depth and size to your instrument. Breathe new life into your instrument’s natural sound so your live performances sound just like your studio recordings. Select the body shape and type of your favorite guitar and then refine the sound to your personal taste.
With the A1/A1X FOUR, you can shape your acoustic guitar’s tone more easily than ever before. Choose your preferred AG MODEL (e.g., D-28) from 15 factory presets (plus 13 additional presets available for free download via Guitar Lab) and play with the characteristic and familiar tone typical for that body shape.
The acoustic fingerprints of all guitar shapes and bodies available in the A1/A1X FOUR and via Guitar Lab were captured using IR technology (Impulse Response). For each AG MODEL, you can optimize output volume and tone via four parameters (gain, bass, mid, treble).
Within patches, you can tailor the effect to your pickup type (piezo or magnetic) via the AG Pickup Selection (AG PU SEL) and add an EQ modeled after special processors.
Take Your Saxophone Into Completely New Sound Worlds
Maybe you prefer that scratchy, rock’n’roll-typical growling saxophone sound. Or use a thick chorus effect to imitate the characteristic tone of fusion jazz. The A1/A1X Four opens up unexpected sonic worlds for saxophonists.
The brand-new “SaxChorus” effect creates natural-sounding doubling and delivers a particularly rich response through subtle modulation originally developed for electric guitars. Thanks to preset EQ and compressor settings, your saxophone retains its acoustically warm tone even when mic’d.
Send Your Trumpet Back to the Future
From the brilliant sound of electric jazz to our signature auto-wah effect—the A1/A1X Four has the right inspiration for every music style. The preset patch “Tp MD70” tunes the pedal wah sound and adapts resonance to the trumpet’s bass range and envelope curve.
Turn Your Violin Into a Full Orchestra
From the full, expressive sound of a string symphony to raw distortion power in metal—the A1/A1X FOUR offers effects for every genre.
More Character and Soul for Your Harp
Play with the punchy, midrange sound of a blues harp or experiment with your own new tones. It’s never been this much fun to breathe new life into your harmonica.
Play the famous harmonica sound with the preset patch “Hm StevieW,” where the chorus effect is perfectly tuned to the response of a chromatic harmonica.
The A1/A1X Four also includes a truly authentic simulation of the bullet microphone, known among harp players as the “Green Bullet.” Select the preset patch “Hm Juke” to give any conventional microphone the legendary warm and amplified sound of the Green Bullet.
New Possibilities for Your Double Bass
With its defined bass and powerful highs, the A1/A1X Four offers maximum control and flexibility for all music styles from classical to rockabilly. Add octave layers, choose a piezo effect, or create your personal signature sounds.
The Technology
Popular effects like distortion, chorus, and wah are designed for electric guitar use. The A1/A1X FOUR, however, offers completely new effects developed specifically for the unique signal structure of acoustic instruments.
For saxophone or trumpet, the acoustic sound is controlled by how strongly the musician blows into the instrument. The wah effects in the A1/A1X FOUR have therefore been extended with a low-pass filter (LPF) to optimally tailor the frequency range for each instrument. This allows musicians to play with maximum expression while blowing normally: the desired tonal impression during attack and release phases is always preserved.
Another example is the violin: a violinist controls expression via bowing. To maintain this expression even with extreme distortion effects, the DIST effect for violin shifts clipping up an octave and boosts highs while reducing bass. This creates a balanced saturation perfectly matched to the violin’s tonal character.
Support for Guitar Lab
With the free ZOOM Guitar Lab software, you explore a whole universe of patches and effects. Thanks to the ability to edit effects and create patches for acoustic instruments, you can create endless combinations and experiment with them.
The Perfect Partner
The Zoom MAA-1 microphone adapter ensures hassle-free connection to the A1/A1X FOUR. It’s designed for dynamic microphones but can also supply phantom power for condenser mics. Add effects to any acoustic instrument and then control gain with the MAA-1’s intuitive controls.
Maximum Control Over Your Performance
In the two performance modes, you switch seamlessly between patches and effects. In MEMORY mode, you can program your entire set list and easily jump from patch to patch. In STOMP mode, you can turn individual effects on or off with your foot.
No More Feedback
The anti-feedback filter detects and eliminates frequencies that could cause feedback.
Drums & Percussion Included
Choose from 68 rhythm patterns programmed for acoustic music styles like samba, reggae, and jazz. Set the desired time signature and play along.
In the Loop
The built-in looper can record up to 30 seconds and lets you create dynamic arrangements from multiple parts.
