NUX TAPE ECHO is a tribute to the Japanese Space Echo from 1974. Analog tape echo devices record incoming audio signals onto a magnetic tape loop and then play the endless loop back through the playback head before it is erased by new incoming audio signals. The Space Echo devices used the standard 1/4-inch tape wound on tape reels.
However, this device uses no reels; the tape is transported via a capstan drive. The tape loop is housed in a loose, constantly moving tangle inside the tape chamber (also called the tape tank) beneath a plastic plate that protects the tape and prevents it from tangling. This design results in lower noise and flutter as well as reduced tape wear. NUX TAPE ECHO employs Core-Image technology to capture these characteristics, including BASS, TREBLE, REPEAT RATE (TIME), INTENSITY (REPEAT), ECHO VOLUME (LEVEL), REVERB VOLUME (REVERB), and physical traits like WOW, FLUTTER, SATURATION. It even features self-regeneration and self-oscillation in a stompbox housing with two footswitches!
