Walrus Audio Julianna!
Building on the dense, analog soundscapes of the JULIA Chorus/Vibrato, the JULIANNA Stereo Chorus/Vibrato pedal offers expanded features with a new digital tap control—while the sound remains 100% analog. JULIANNA delivers tones ranging from light chorus to dizzying vibrato and everything in between.
The controls successfully introduced by JULIA—"Lag," "d-c-v" (Dry-Chorus-Vibrato), and an LFO waveform selector—are also present here but enhanced with additional functions: thanks to the activatable "Drift" feature (continuous fluctuations of the set "Rate" value), Secondary Rate (for temporary ramp-up/-down sounds via foot pressure), and inputs for expression pedal and tap switch, you get sounds you won’t find in any traditional chorus pedal.
The JULIANNA pedal includes all the sounds of the JULIA pedal but adds these features:
- Tap Tempo: Sets the chorus speed as an alternative to the Rate control
- Stereo connections with configuration options: Mono In - Mono Out, Mono In - Stereo Out, Stereo In - Stereo Out
- Secondary Rate: usable as "ramp-up" or "ramp-down" (temporary activation by pressing/holding the "Tap" switch)
- Drift Function: Automatic modulation of the LFO rate (auto ramping up and down of the set "Rate" value; intensity adjustable)
- Random LFO Shape: In addition to sine and triangle waveforms, JULIANNA can generate a random waveform to modulate the signal
- Tap Division: Rhythmic subdivision of the tap tempo into quarter, eighth, or triplet notes
- Expression (external) controls Depth, Rate, or both simultaneously
- Tap In (external) for connecting an external tap switch or global clock source
LAG
Unlike many other chorus pedals, JULIANNA and JULIA feature a special control called "Lag." The Lag knob selects the delay time before the LFO modulation starts. Moderate settings produce smooth, soft modulations, while the maximum setting creates dizzying detune effects. The Lag control adds a new dimension to traditional chorus and vibrato.
Dry-Chorus-Vibrato Mix Control (d-c-v)
The d-c-v control sets the effect’s mix level in the JULIANNA’s mono channel. Traditional chorus sounds appear at the midpoint ("12 o’clock"), classic vibrato sounds at full clockwise. Intermediate settings offer unique blends of chorus and vibrato tones not usually achievable with other chorus pedals.
In stereo mode, the second output ("Stereo") always carries the pure vibrato effect signal (100% wet), while the first output ("Mono") lets you blend the effect level via the "d-c-v" control. When "d-c-v" is fully counterclockwise, the first output ("Mono") outputs the dry signal without effect.
This is the setup of a classic stereo chorus. Turning the d-c-v control higher also sends a mixed effect signal through the "Mono" output, creating many new tonal variations.
