BOSS DC-2W Dimension C - Experience the Fourth Dimension!
The original Dimension effect from BOSS and Roland is back — more versatile than ever! The DC-2W was developed in the trusted Waza Craft analog tradition and not only delivers a faithful sonic recreation of the original DC-2 Dimension C pedal, but also includes the legendary SDD-320 Dimension D 19" studio-rack effect that served as the DC-2's blueprint. The DC-2W features the same intuitive four-button preset interface as the 1980s original. New is the ability to switch effects electronically, creating entirely new tonal variations compared to the vintage units.
Musicians and engineers have long relied on the Dimension's unique spatial processing, which can adjust any sound's width and depth in an almost magical way — from electric and acoustic guitars to keyboards, vocals and other sources. The DC-2W combines the original circuit design with numerous modern enhancements and, as the only pedal on the market, delivers the classic Dimension experience with comprehensive sonic authenticity.
Optimize Your Sound With Natural Width & Depth
The original Dimension effect is renowned for its three-dimensional spatial processing that enhances any signal. Because of this, the DC-2 was often mistakenly labeled a chorus. Indeed, like a chorus, the DC-2 is based on temporal processing of the input signal. However, the Dimension's unique and sophisticated circuit design produces a subtle widening and deepening of the source material without bringing the modulation to the foreground. The result sounds more open and enriches every instrument and mix in a natural way.
Four Switches, Expanded Tone Options
Like the original Dimension effects, the DC-2W offers a simple, hands-on interface with four preset switches for tonal variations that enhance width and depth. The original DC-2 used mechanical switches — the new DC-2W uses modern electronic switches and status LEDs for even better performance. The new concept also allows you to press two switches at once to access a wide range of additional sounds. In total, the DC-2W’s two effect modes (S and SDD-320) offer 20 different Dimension variations, all reachable via just four switches.
Authentic Sounds With Modern Enhancements
In the Waza Craft tradition, the DC-2W blends analog vintage tones with modern design refinements for improved performance and greater versatility. In addition to the electronic switches, the pedal features a newly developed internal bypass circuit that is noticeably optimized compared to the original DC-2. Furthermore, the pedal's flexible input/output section lets you integrate it into any mono or stereo rig — from common guitar setups and audio interfaces to studio mixing consoles. Like all Waza Craft pedals, the DC-2W also includes a high-quality buffer circuit for exceptionally transparent tone when the pedal is bypassed.
The Roland SDD-320 Dimension D: A Studio Legend
It didn't take long for the Roland SDD-320 Dimension D to become a go-to secret weapon among engineers and producers worldwide after its 1979 release. To this day you can hear the 19" effect classic on countless hit productions across genres. From guitars and electric pianos to synthesizers, strings and backing vocals — the Dimension supplies signals immediately with unmistakable space and density, without being perceived as an "effect".
The DC-2W’s SDD-320 mode reconstructs the character of the original Dimension D in every respect. The original Dimension D led many engineers to press multiple buttons at once to create new, varying sounds. In truth, the original’s design only ever allowed two sound variations at once. By contrast, the DC-2W's SDD-320 mode, thanks to its electronic switches, provides up to six sound variations when two switches are pressed simultaneously — including four "in-between" sounds and two completely new ones.
The BOSS DC-2 Dimension C: 3D Sound in a Compact Pedal
The DC-2 Dimension C pedal launched in 1985 and brought the Dimension D’s unique spatial effect into the BOSS compact pedal format. While the Dimension D was designed as a studio effect for mono and stereo sources, the DC-2 specifically focused on mono signals — such as guitars — using a modified circuit that slightly changed the well-known Dimension effect's sonic character.
In S mode (Standard), the DC-2W delivers exactly the same sound as the DC-2 pedal. No matter how you tried, the original DC-2 didn't produce sound variations when multiple buttons were pressed simultaneously. Like the SDD-320 mode, the DC-2W’s S mode also grants access to six different variations that weren't possible on the original.
Waza Craft: The Art of Superior Tone
From the start, BOSS developers set a clear goal: the best possible guitar tone. To this day they draw on every available technology — from analog vintage circuits to high-tech DSP processing. The Waza Craft series embodies that enthusiasm and delivers exceptional tonal and playing characteristics based on carefully selected analog components, optimized circuit designs and meticulous attention to detail. The Japanese word 'Waza' stands for 'art and technique' — a fitting emblem for these special-edition pedals as the spearhead of modern BOSS development and craftsmanship.
