Boss introduces the IR-200, a compact and groundbreaking direct amp and IR solution. This powerful stompbox delivers ready-to-play guitar and bass tones of the next generation in outstanding audio quality, based on premium amplifiers, extensive tone shaping, and recallable sounds from 128 memory slots. Choose from 150 high-resolution speaker cabinet impulse responses by Boss and Celestion Digital, plus 128 slots to load your own mono and stereo impulse responses.

With the IR-200, you turn your pedalboard into a standalone direct sound solution for live gigs, studio recordings, and home practice. This compact pedal delivers impressive amplifier tones and works seamlessly with your favorite pedals on your board—from stereo modulation effects to delays and reverbs. Once you dial in your sound, you can send the signal to a stage amp, PA system, DAW, or headphones—or all at once.

High-Resolution Stereo Speaker Impulse Responses

The IR-200 relies on two powerful custom DSP processors, enabling exceptional IR performance for mono and stereo files with up to 32-bit floating-point processing and 96 kHz sampling rate, plus up to 500 ms IR length for natural bass decay. The 144 Boss and 10 Celestion Digital impulse responses cover a vast range of speaker cabinet and microphone combinations and can be loaded as patches anytime. Using the IR-200 IR Loader software for macOS and Windows, you can add up to 128 mono or 64 stereo WAV impulse responses from your own collection.

Premium Guitar and Bass Amplifier Sounds

The inspiring amplifiers of the IR-200 offer great tones and a fantastic playing feel. They also respond precisely to drive and other pedal types placed before them. The eight guitar amps cover essential sounds—from classic clean, tweed, and class-A to vintage and modern high-gain.

The bass amps are equally powerful, delivering strong and punchy tones from clean to drive. Each amp type features controls for gain, bass, mid, and treble to quickly find the right sound. A noise suppressor is also included to tame hiss and hum from high-gain tones. Additionally, you can bypass the amp section and use the IR-200’s high-quality speaker cabinet impulse responses with an amp and loadbox setup or an external modeling amplifier.

Comprehensive Tone Control

The IR-200 offers deep tone-shaping tools and 128 memory slots—more than enough to build a full library of setups for every playing situation. Switch between different amplifiers for varying musical styles, refine tones with two parametric or graphic EQs, and add space and depth with one of three ambience effects. Using two impulse responses simultaneously lets you blend their sounds or create wide stereo tones.

There’s also an effects loop that can be placed before or after the speaker cabinet impulse response. The effects loop lets you create stereo effects, insert effects in series or parallel, and much more. At the end of the signal chain, two global equalizers give your sound the final polish.

Stage Ready

The IR-200 prepares you for any stage situation with its informative display, intuitive controls, and flexible connectivity. Dedicated knobs for tone adjustment ensure you don’t miss a beat even in hectic moments. Independent signal feeds can be sent to a stage amp and a PA via the two output jacks. Use the two built-in footswitches to scroll through memory slots while playing live.

Additional options include connecting external footswitches or an expression pedal. You can also control the IR-200 via MIDI, enabling communication with other pedals and devices with MIDI ports, such as the ES-8 and ES-5 loop switchers.

Ready for Recording and Livestreaming

The IR-200 offers many powerful features and can also serve as a high-quality USB audio interface for use with DAWs and streaming software. Thanks to dedicated drivers, its audio interface functionality is fully supported on macOS and Windows computers. You can also stream stereo audio on iOS devices. Record tracks and listen back through your computer’s DAW. Then reamp sounds through your pedalboard and the IR-200’s amp and speaker cabinet IRs. Or perform live on your favorite streaming platform using the IR-200’s ready-to-play built-in sounds.

Practice, Monitor, and Jam with Backing Tracks

The IR-200 features a headphone output for monitoring while practicing, recording, and performing live. In addition to playing and listening in stereo, you can switch to a surround mode with connected headphones for an immersive and inspiring sound experience. A stereo AUX input lets you play jam tracks and backing tracks from your smartphone, mixer, or other audio device.
