Beginner's Course with Saxophone Pro Chris Stieve-Dawe!

The basics of the saxophone are presented here clearly and simply. Although this book focuses solely on the alto saxophone, every student who masters the basic techniques will be able to transfer them to other instruments in the saxophone family.

Of course, a CD with all songs and exercises is included so the student can immediately check their own playing.

Author Portrait of Chris Stieve-Dawe

Chris Stieve-Dawe was born in London. During his youth, Chris was a member of the "National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Great Britain" for six years and toured Europe with various bands. In 1971, he had the opportunity to study at the Royal Military School of Music and joined the military band. During his studies, he won the silver medal from the "Worshipful Company of Musicians." In 1977, he began a four-year study as a bandmaster and won the gold medal from the "Worshipful Company of Musicians." He earned a diploma from the "Royal College of Music" and a few years later another diploma from the "London College of Music" for saxophone. Chris was the conductor of the military band for 13 years and also played saxophone there. In 1993, he left the military and now works as a saxophonist and arranger. He leads recordings, teaches, and tours with various artists.

With the help of "Alto Saxophone Basics + CD" I can practice what I learned in class in a structured and good way privately. The CD helps as an acoustic control. Great!

The course describes briefly and concisely the essential things that are important for beginners. Some things I would have liked more detailed, for example information about the embouchure and the application of the reed to the mouth. I first needed a few rounds on the Internet.......
