While the first volume of the "European Piano Method" introduces the basics of piano playing, volume 2 focuses on expanding technical and musical training. The course begins with the topic "Phrasing and Articulation." This is followed by a series of pieces systematically arranged to practice playing in various keys (3 sharps to 3 flats), improving sight-reading skills and increasing familiarity with the keyboard. Along with major and minor scales, the corresponding cadences are introduced, which can be varied in many different playing styles. In parallel, extensive exercise material is provided for playing scales and developing "velocity and even playing." In this way, students gradually reach a technical level that allows the "artistic" work on expression and musical interpretation. This development of musicality begins with the use of the pedal and an introduction to cantabile, which is deepened in volume 3. Here too, playing by ear, inventing accompaniments, experimenting with tone colors and chords, and composing small pieces are meant to constantly complement the lessons. In the appendix of volume 2, the author offers some suggestions, leaving much deliberately to the individual approach of the teacher.
