I bought these tuners to replace the factory Grover-style tuners on an older Ibanez hollowbody.
The instrument has Thomastik 13 gauge flatwounds on it, which already have a pretty decent pull.
The Ortega tuners show no problem with it and are both tuning stable and smooth and precise to tune.
I deliberately looked for small tuning pianos because they leave more room for the fingers when turning and you don't have to contort your fingers when tuning a string so as not to detune the neighboring string at the same time. Happened to me again and again with the big kidney pianos of the factory tuners.
Apart from that, the ratio of the Ortegas is also somewhat shorter - 14:1 instead of 16:1.
I also like it better.
