Yamaha DBR12

I do not have to write much about the box, read the reviews on the net. We, a duo with 2x A-guitar/2xvocals, have been playing gigs in front of 2-200 people for a good 10 years. Up to now we were well served with the 12" PA302A, but it became too bulky for the stand. If a 25kg speaker falls over on the stand, no grass will grow under it. A lighter box was needed. It was important to us that the new speaker sounded natural and balanced. Bass and treble are plentiful in the "thick" 12/15" 2-way speakers, but the midrange is often too thin. And it's these that make speech intelligible and make vocals and guitar sound "warm" and "full".
We decided on the DBR10 based on test reports and experiences in the musician circle. To put it flippantly, the DBR10 next to the PA302A sounds like a HIFI box next to a homemade piezo garage disco box. You could probably even listen to classical music with the DBR10. What sounds great is music from the MP3 player via the chinch inputs. Very handy to play music from your mobile phone while setting up and taking down.
The housing is handy and has a discreet and valuable appearance. A tone control is missing but there is a switch with which the treble / bass can be raised or lowered, which is enough for us. Through the 2 inputs, you can for minigigs without a mixer guitar and microphone also times directly plug in and connect via link cable a 2nd box. The volume pots on the back are too far forward for my liking, so the box should be put in a box or padded sleeve for transport. The active cooling is practically inaudible, as is the slight background noise.
But this speaker is not only capable of playing music, it can also play it really loud! It's amazing how much bass the small 10" produces, nevertheless, it's a good idea to leave the church in the village and to use one or two subs at higher volumes (>50 people in our case, depending on the event), which is good for the sound and the life span of the 10". Due to the built-in low cut this works very well and the high/mid section then keeps up cleanly even at high volumes.
Conclusion: for our purposes (sound, versatility, transport etc.) exactly the right speaker. And all that at a very fair price. No wonder that the box has delivery bottlenecks.
