Weighted Hammer Action Keyboard with Adjustable Touch Sensitivity and Synthetic Ivory Surface

The DP-50's weighted keyboard with genuine hammer action simulates the feel of an acoustic piano as authentically as possible. The keys are made of synthetic ivory and offer a certain "natural" resistance when depressed, similar to classic acoustic pianos. The keyboard is also velocity-sensitive, meaning the notes sound at different volumes depending on how lightly or firmly you press a key. With the different settings ("Touch Response" = touch sensitivity) you can, for example, produce a comparatively loud sound even with a gentle touch (setting "Soft"). This function is often particularly helpful for the youngest piano beginners. (Note: the photo on the right shows the DP-50 in the matte white finish.)

32-Note Polyphony

The DP-50 can reproduce up to 32 notes simultaneously. This range allows you to play most pieces from the classical, rock and pop repertoires with stereo sound while using different voices at the same time.

The "Layer" and "Split" Functions

With the "Layer" function you can stack two voices—for example strings and piano—on top of each other to create a particularly impressive, full sound. "Split," on the other hand, divides your keyboard into two separate zones. You can assign different voices to each zone and, for example, have strings on the left hand and piano on the right. For both "Layer" and "Split" the volumes of the individual sounds can be adjusted separately.

The DP-50 as "Twin Piano"

Another feature of the DP-50 is the ability to split the keyboard into two halves so you effectively get two small, independent keyboard areas side by side. Unlike "Split," where the keyboard is divided into two zones with different voices, the "Twin-Piano" function creates two separate, independent keyboards with the same pitch ranges. Two players can then sit side by side and play as if on two small, independent pianos—great for teacher-student practice sessions! The "Tune" and "Transpose" Functions

Want to retune the DP-50 to match another instrument for ensemble playing? No problem with the "Tune" function! The DP-50 also supports transposing, i.e. changing the piano's pitch in semitone steps.

Metronome and Headphone Jacks

The built-in metronome helps you keep time and the right tempo while practicing. You can set the tempo as you like and adjust the metronome volume to your preference. The DP-50 also features two headphone jacks so you can practice and play without disturbing, for example, your neighbors. The second headphone jack is ideal for a second "silent listener" sitting in on your practice.

The "Soft", "Sostenuto" and "Damper" Pedals

As with a grand piano, the DP-50 gives you three pedals to shape the sound of the pieces you play. The soft pedal is on the left and—like the sostenuto pedal in the middle—is played with the left foot. The damper (sustain) pedal on the right is the one most commonly used. It lets notes ring out, while the middle sostenuto pedal only sustains notes that are already held down. The left soft pedal reduces the volume of struck notes and produces a softer tone color.

2-Track Recording and Playback

With the recording function you can capture and play back your own performance. The capacity is up to approximately 9,000 notes per track. This feature is perfect for assessing your own piano progress. Since the DP-50 has a USB connection, you can also hook it up to your PC and use it as a MIDI keyboard.

USB Audio/MIDI Interface

The built-in USB audio/MIDI interface lets you connect the DP-50 directly to your computer or a MIDI sampler. The piano can be used as a master keyboard with all common sequencer programs. In addition, external devices such as an MP3 player can be connected via the stereo in jack on the rear and played back directly through the DP-50's speakers. These tracks can then accompany you while you play. The repertoire of nice and suitable pieces to practice and play along with is virtually limitless. With the DP-50 students will never get bored! You can also record the piano's sound directly to your computer.

Auto Power-Off

You can set the piano to switch itself off automatically if it hasn't been used for 30 minutes, but that probably won't happen often because...
