Authentic Acoustic Piano Feel and Half-Damper Pedal Control

With an 88-key keyboard, the GHS keyboard (Graded Hammer Standard) reproduces the feel of an acoustic piano, offering a naturally heavier touch in the low registers and a lighter touch in the high octaves. The GHS keyboard gives a grand-piano-like touch, enabling fast note repetition and authentic expressive control. In addition, a half-damper function authentically recreates a grand piano’s damper behavior and provides rich expressive possibilities.

Reproduction of an Acoustic Piano's Resonance

Damper Resonance reproduces the wide, deep sonic field of an acoustic piano. It also reflects the tonal changes that occur when a grand piano’s damper pedal is pressed. It includes sounds that originate from the keybed, emulating the cumulative resonance that arises when all those sounds blend together.

The YDP-105 features an authentic grand piano tone plus other built-in instrument voices such as electric piano, organ, vibraphone and strings — a total of 10 voices — and 10 famous built-in classical piano songs.

The YDP-105 is also compatible with Yamaha’s free Smart Pianist app—simply download the app to your smart device and connect it to the instrument*.

The Smart Pianist app makes it easy to operate the instrument’s various voice functions and to access a wide range of scores, including those for the built-in songs. It also offers a powerful Piano Room feature to change the piano voice quality and resonance settings, plus a recording function.

Maximum Volume Limiter

The new volume limiter function lets you set a fixed maximum volume to protect your hearing from loud sounds over the speakers or headphones.

This effectively gives the instrument two keyboards, allowing two players sitting side by side to play the same piano voice and the same octave range. This is especially useful for learning with a partner, as you can learn and practice together.
