The Thunderbird E1 is a tribute to the original Thunderbird bass, first released in 1963 by the legendary Kalamazoo factory.
The unique "reversed" zigzag design of the Thunderbird body and the equally striking headstock were the idea of the legendary automobile designer and visionary Ray Dietrich, who was recruited by the Kalamazoo factory to strengthen the electric-guitar line and help cement the factory's outstanding standing among solidbody electric-guitar makers.
