The Melodica from Classic Cantabile is currently my favorite instrument. Please do not be put off by the low price. Expensive Melodicas are not better but rather worse.
Of course it sounds a bit like plastic, but that's what allows the player to express himself in a variety of ways. There are Melodicas that sound "purer", but also much more sterile.
You can play melodies from all genres on it, from pop to classical.
If the player puts all his feeling into it, it sounds dreamy like a violin, radiant like a trumpet, clean like a clarinet, smart like a flute but also jazzy like a saxophone.
Unfortunately, there are no examples on the internet that demonstrate all this.
