I bought this keyboard to switch to software production or just for casual jamming.
I did not have a comparison with other MIDI keyboards before, I bought this keyboard after studying various forum posts and reviews.

Important to me were considerably less grips to the mouse than I had without keyboard, velocity, aftertouch, semi-weighted keys, many faders, pads and knobs and generally good workmanship. For someone like me who doesn't know any other master keyboard, really first class. Piano VSTs can be played insanely soulful. Navigating through long preset lists of VSTs is no problem thanks to scroll buttons. The pads react very finely, faders, knobs and buttons have pleasant resistances or pressure points.

I would probably buy it again.

Hello!
First of all, thank you for the super fast shipping. Monday evening transferred and the keyboard is there on Thursday! Would not have gone faster with express shipping! The or the Akai is very well made, the keyboard rattles much less than my previous M-Audio Axiom 61 MK2 and seems higher quality. Am not a professional though, just an amateur. Many will also buy this keyboard because of the software that comes with it, especially the Akai VIP software. But to download the software (VIP software, Sonivox 88, etc.) and authorize it, you have to create an iLok account. Didn't know what iLok was at first. I'm a bit older and still know software on data carriers. By the way: A silver disc is included: Ableton Lite Live. But just the program I do not need.
I now have an iLok account and the iLok License Manager. According to Akai. de, you don't need an iLok USB stick. It also costs 46 Euro (Pacer iLok3). To cut a long story short: Registering with iLok is no trick and free of charge, but I think it should be included in every ad for the MPK 261. But also at Akai on the website : Nothing! Maybe I'm too old too! Hope to get everything working tomorrow, as it's already too late now. My first impression: high quality masterkeyboard, software(for me) a bit cumbersome to install.

Many nice greetings from Reutlingen to the Kirstein-Team
