Key Layout

The YDS-150’s key layout is based on Yamaha’s top acoustic saxophone model—for the most natural playability and smooth fingering feel. Additionally, you can use the accompanying app to change the fingering and customize it to your needs.

Brass Bell

The high-quality brass bell is made from the same material as Yamaha’s acoustic saxophones. Designed based on extensive know-how and experience in acoustic instrument construction, this bell wonderfully reproduces the long reverberation typical of wind instruments and the subtle tonal nuances of pianissimo playing.

Moreover, the authentic resonance makes the entire instrument vibrate, allowing you to truly feel the music as you play.

Mouthpiece & Breath Sensor

To enable the most natural, expressive, and comfortable playing, the YDS-150 features a mouthpiece that matches that of an acoustic saxophone. It can be easily removed for cleaning.

Simply blowing into the mouthpiece and pressing the keys with correct fingering produces a perfect acoustic saxophone sound—like a professional musician—without needing a perfect embouchure. The YDS-150 has a breath sensor that detects the intensity or pressure of your airflow, so you can precisely control not only the volume but also the tone.

Single Note Sampling by Professional Players

The YDS-150 uses sampled sounds from Yamaha’s acoustic soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones, recorded meticulously in single notes by professional players. So you won’t hear any tones generated by interpolation.

Authentic Sound of 4 Saxophone Types & 56 Presets for All Music Styles

With the YDS-150, you can instantly change the tuning, range, and tone color of each saxophone type—soprano, alto, tenor, or baritone. Furthermore, each saxophone type offers different saxophone sounds that correspond to various playing techniques and music styles, from vibrato playing and jazz to classical music.

In total, the YDS-150 features 73 instrument sounds, including 56 saxophone tones, plus many other instrument sounds—such as electronic instruments and acoustic wind instruments like shakuhachi, Irish whistle, and more—allowing you to play authentically in virtually any music genre.

External Connection Options: AUX In and Bluetooth

The YDS-150 is equipped with an AUX input for connecting external audio sources like smartphones and audio players to jam along with music. Available only when using headphones or output via the headphone jack.

Via Bluetooth, you can not only connect the YDS-150 to the app but also stream music from external sources. You can also use the digital saxophone as a Bluetooth MIDI controller.

Comfort Is Key

The Yamaha YDS-150 comes with a sturdy soft case that lets you transport the instrument quickly and safely.

Of course, the softly padded, wide neck strap is length-adjustable. The extension offers 12 steps on each side for optimal adjustment. For even more carrying comfort, the ear cups are mounted on two-axis pivots. The thick, soft padding of the circumaural cups also provides good external noise isolation.

• The instrument should be stored upright after playing to allow condensation to drain.
• The instrument may be stored lying down, but not resting on the keys, as this can damage the mechanics and/or internal electronics.
