You have to get used to the response a little, but this is no longer a problem after 2 weeks of playing.
From my point of view the 5th valve is very helpful, especially in the low regions (contra- and subcontraoctave). It has a very full and soft sound, but can also be very breakout when played loudly, which is very nice for solos. Now to the negative arguments. It is not the lightest tuba. In addition, I had to shorten them, due to inconsistencies of the b1/b2 and f1. Ansonnsten this tuba is really recommended for beginners and advanced players.

Probably a silly question: but what do YOU mean by optionally extended half/full sound (interchangeable)

For the tuba, 2 tuning trains for the 5th valve are included. The shorter one for a semitone, the longer one for a whole tone.
This way, especially in the contra octave range, the tones can be voiced cleaner.
