The TBQAlessi Joseph Alessi Q Series Artist Model tenor trombone is built for players seeking a professional Bb/F tenor trombone with high efficiency, reliable projection and at the same time a warm, broad sound. Developed in collaboration with Joseph Alessi, this model deliberately combines selected alloys and a special construction to bring tone color, resonance and stability into a balanced overall character. The two-piece, lightweight brass bell with an unsoldered bead responds very directly, projects effortlessly into the room and remains sonically rounded and controlled.
Bell: Light, Open and Projecting
The QAlessi bell is made in two pieces from brass, with an unsoldered bead and additional annealing. This specific construction supports quick response, clean centering and a noticeably "breathing" playing feel. The bell diameter is 216 mm — ideal for a present, orchestral carrying sound that still offers enough breadth for symphonic and solo applications.
Rotary F-Valve With Gold Brass F Tuning Slides
At the heart of the setup is the newly developed Q Series rotary F-valve. It delivers the clarity and stability many players value in a rotary valve and complements the instrument with a gold brass F tuning slide. This material choice increases tonal density and gives the F register more substance without losing definition. An engraved valve cap completes the Artist Model concept visually.
F Tuning Slide and Slide: Controlled Warmth & Flexibility
The F tuning slide is made of gold brass and executed as drawn tubing — adding complexity, warmth and a smooth resistance. The slide uses a mix of alloys: a standard-weight gold brass outer slide meets a wide brass slide bow. The result is a playing feel that is both consistent and flexible — ideal for shifting tonal ideals from orchestra to big band to studio.
Leadpipe Setup for Fine Tuning
With three interchangeable brass leadpipes you can fine-tune response, resistance and tonal focus. That makes the TBQAlessi especially versatile: from clear articulation and stability to more openness and tonal breadth — depending on repertoire, mouthpiece and personal playing style.
