Baritone Built in Bohemia for Thomas "Schiffko" Zsivkovits!
The Cerveny CEP 531-4 T TZ Signature Baritone by Thomas Zsivkovits blends design elements and production techniques from the golden era of traditional Czech brass-making. Combined with modern, ergonomic features, it fully meets the demands of today's discerning baritonist.
Schiffko's baritone responds easily and scores high on excellent handling, solid intonation and the "singing sound" that Cerveny baritones are known for. The CEP 531-4T TZ is a true workhorse and a reliable companion designed for band use, yet it feels right at home in concert repertoire too — as Thomas Zsivkovits has already showcased impressively with Thomas Gansch's "Blasmusik Supergroup."
High-Quality Components and Thoughtful Features for Comfortable Playing
The body, valve section, bell and valve cover of the CEP531-4T TZ are made from brass (lightweight), providing clear intonation and a responsive feel across the range. The leadpipe and inner slides are nickel silver, significantly increasing longevity, while the main tuning slide is red brass.
Perfect handling is ensured by the adjustable thumb ring and the adjustable trigger for the main tuning slide, operated with the left hand. The valve section is fitted with Minibal joints, guaranteeing smooth and reliable valve action. The spit valve is mounted on the main tuning slide.
The baritone is delivered in a sturdy hard case and includes a silver-plated mouthpiece.

About Thomas Zsivkovits
From 1996 Thomas Zsivkovits attended a trombone preparatory course with Professor Erik Hainzl (Tonkünstler-Orchester Niederösterreich) at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, Oberschützen campus. From 2002 to 2003 he received instruction from guest professor Harald Matjacic (Vienna Volksoper). In March 2003 he passed his first diploma examination in the concert subject "trombone" with distinction.
He completed his military service with the Military Music Burgenland in Eisenstadt. Afterwards he studied with the renowned principal bass trombonist of the Vienna Philharmonic, Prof. Johann Ströcker. He passed the subsequent IGP Classical diploma examination in trombone "with outstanding success." He earned his Bachelor in the concert subject trombone in 2007 and his Master of Arts in 2008.
"Schiffko" has made a name for himself as a brass soloist (tenor horn, baritone, trombone, bass trumpet) as well as a composer and arranger in the German-speaking brass scene. He founded and led the legendary "Blaskapelle Tschecharanka" and was a member of "eine kleine dorfMusik," and he participates in various formations and projects in jazz and popular music.
Currently Thomas Zsivkovits teaches "low brass" at the Johann Sebastian Bach Music School in Vienna and at the J.M. Hauer Music School in Wiener Neustadt. He performs with Thomas Gansch's Blasmusik Supergroup and hosts the podcast "Schiffkos Music Talk," where he talks with brass legends and music professionals.
