The Classic Cantabile Ukulele is made from zebra wood. With smooth guitar mechanics, the tuning is a breeze. The ukulele is fitted with nylon strings. Due to its compact size it can be used perfectly as an instrument for traveling, as it's incredibly easy to stow in a backpack or optional gig bag.
Originally brought by the Portuguese immigrant Joao Fernandes 1879 Braguinha, a local form of the cavaquinho, from Madeira to Hawaii. There it got the name "ukulele (jumping flea), which intended to reproduce the impression of Hawaiians at the sight of the rapidly moving fingers across the fingerboard of the instrument.
From Hawaii the Ukulele came to America and then to Europe and found here a great success in the music scene as well.
Ever since Stefan Raab and "TV Total", the ukulele is also in Germany a true cult musical instrument!
