The Classic Cantabile ukulele is made from select Okoume wood. With smooth guitar mechanics tuning the ukulele is a breeze. The ukulele is fitted with nylon strings. Due to its compact size it can be used perfectly as a tool for traveling, as it's incredibly easy to stow in a backpack or optional gig bag.
Originally brought from Madeira to Hawaii by the Portuguese immigrant Joao Fernandes 1879 braguinha, a local form of the cavaquinho. There it was given the name "ukulele" (jumping flea), which should reflect the impression of Hawaiians at the sight of the rapidly moving finger across the fingerboard of the instrument.
From Hawaii, the ukulele came across America to Europe and also found here a great success in the music scene.
Ever since Stefan Raab and "TV Total", the ukulele is also in Germany a real cult musical instrument!
