Martin DSS-14E Acoustic Guitar

Martin DSS-14E Burst - Slope-Shoulder Dreadnought for Stage and Songwriting!

With the DSS-14E Martin expands the Road Series with a slope-shoulder dreadnought that blends classic proportions with modern, stage-ready appointments. The slightly rounded shoulder gives the large dreadnought shape its own character while echoing the comfortable lines of the DSS-16E models made in Nazareth. Thanks to the shorter 24.9" scale length, the instrument feels more relaxed than many classic long-scale dreadnoughts and delivers a pleasantly direct response.

Solid Woods and Distinctive Construction

A solid Adirondack spruce top meets solid Sapele back and sides. This pairing forms the acoustic foundation for a balanced tonal character with pronounced mids and a rounded, controlled low end. The scalloped X-bracing of spruce lets the top move freely and supports lively resonance. The body is framed by elegant binding, while the rosette and other subtle details continue the classic Martin aesthetic.

Short Scale and Modern Martin Neck

The neck, crafted from selected hardwood, wears Martin's Performing-Artist profile with a High Performance taper. Combined with the 24.9" scale length, it creates a modern, relaxed playing feel that supports both chord work and melodic lines. The fingerboard of East Indian rosewood carries Old Style 18 inlays in faux mother-of-pearl, adding a traditional touch. The dovetail neck joint follows a proven acoustic construction and joins neck and body in the classic way.

East Indian Rosewood and Open Tuners

Martin also uses East Indian rosewood for the bridge. The Modern Straightline design pairs a clean aesthetic with the traditional function of an acoustic bridge. A white TUSQ saddle and white TUSQ bridge pins complete the build. Open nickel tuners with butterbean buttons underline the instrument's traditional look and suit the slotted headstock.

Martin E1 Electronics for Direct Stage Use

For amplified applications the DSS-14E is equipped with Martin E1 electronics. The system allows easy connection to amplifiers, PA systems, or a recording setup and also includes a built-in tuner. That keeps the guitar flexible both acoustically and when amplified. The package includes a matching gray Martin softcase that protects the instrument during transport.
