Gibson Hummingbird Special - Tradition Meets Modern Versatility!

First introduced in 1960, the Gibson Hummingbird is one of the most distinctive and beloved acoustic guitars ever made. The new Gibson Hummingbird Special is handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana, by Gibson’s experienced luthiers, offering players a USA-made Gibson Hummingbird model at a very attractive price. The Hummingbird Special features a traditional square-shouldered body made from genuine solid mahogany back and sides and a solid Sitka spruce top reinforced with our traditional scalloped X-bracing. This combination of tonewoods delivers a warm, balanced sound with excellent dynamic range, suitable for any music style. The “concert depth” body is slightly thinner than a Hummingbird Standard, giving it a slimmer, tighter bass response that fits perfectly in the mix and also makes it lighter to hold.

The practical neck is attached to the body with a dovetail joint and, like all Gibson acoustics, is glued with hot hide glue. The neck has a comfortable rounded profile, and the rosewood fretboard features a 12" radius with pearloid parallelogram inlays, one of the visual trademarks that make the Hummingbird instantly recognizable. The fretboard is equipped with 20 standard frets. The traditional belly-up rosewood bridge is fitted with a TUSQ saddle, and both the nut and bridge pins are also TUSQ. High-quality Grover Rotomatic tuners ensure rock-solid tuning stability. The pickguard displays a simplified version of the world-famous Hummingbird graphic. The Hummingbird Special is finished in satin nitrocellulose lacquer in Satin Vintage Cherry Sunburst and Satin Wine Red colors. It comes equipped with an L.R. Baggs Element Bronze piezo pickup under the saddle and an active preamp with an easily accessible volume control at the soundhole, making it stage- and studio-ready right out of the included premium soft case.
