Timeless Effects, Endless Inspiration!
The PX-1 Plugout FX is an innovative hardware platform that packs the timeless Boss compact-pedal experience into a single, versatile unit. This transformable floor pedal houses a wide range of authentic recreations of effects from the historic Boss lineup, offering limitless creative inspiration. With the PX-1, exploring the vast, influential world of Boss compact pedals has never been easier.
An Universe Of Musical Tones
Since 1977, Boss compact pedals have inspired generations of musicians around the world. Over the years, 140 different models were developed and more than 19 million units sold. Many models have been produced continuously for decades. From vintage classics and daily workhorses to rare specialty effects — the PX-1 gives you access to the full variety of the Boss compact-pedal range.

Authentic Recreations
Thanks to newly developed Boss algorithms, each effect in the PX-1 delivers the authentic sound and feel of its pedal original. Every detail has been modeled with impressive precision and runs on a powerful DSP engine designed to emulate the sound of a single effect. With the familiar control layout of Boss compact pedals, you can shape tones quickly and intuitively, complemented by an integrated display that shows parameters and settings.
Modern & Flexible
The PX-1 supports external control via up to two footswitches or an expression pedal. The Swap function lets you toggle between two effects, and nearly every parameter can be assigned and controlled in real time. Stereo inputs and outputs offer flexible routing and a wider sound image for stereo-capable models, while tap-tempo and MIDI-clock synchronization get the most out of time-based effects.

Core Effects
The PX-1's fixed effect library includes eight famous Boss pedals, featuring the three very first models from 1977 as well as legendary drive pedals like the DS-1 and SD-1. The digit "1" in each model name indicates that it was the first of its kind in the Boss lineup.

OD-1 Over Drive
The OD-1 is widely regarded as the birth of the ubiquitous overdrive category in stompbox effects. The yellow classic uses an asymmetric clipping circuit inspired by overdriven tube amps, producing a warm, thick sound full of harmonic overtones.

SP-1 Spectrum
A unique and rare Boss effect that boosts a single, selectable frequency band. Applications range from adding presence to solo lines, enhancing the character of overdrive and distortion pedals, to nasal "cocked wah" lead tones.

PH-1 Phaser
The PH-1 produces a pleasant phaser sound with pronounced low-end. With only two knobs, it can generate a wide variety of musical textures.

SG-1 Slow Gear
The coveted Boss original modifies the attack phase to create swelling sounds reminiscent of a violin. The SG-1 is especially effective for ambient textures when paired with delay and reverb.

CS-1 Compression Sustainer
The first Boss compressor pedal stood out with a distinctive circuit compared to later CS-2 and CS-3 models. Thanks to its optical design using an optocoupler, the CS-1 offered a slower attack that gave it a unique character.

TW-1 T Wah
The TW-1 delivers a classic wah effect that responds to input level. The two controls adjust the sensitivity and depth of the input filter.

SD-1 SUPER OverDrive
The SD-1 is a workhorse that has accompanied generations of musicians across every genre. Compared to the OD-1, the SD-1 offers additional parameters that deliver a wide range of highly musical overdrive tones.

DS-1 Distortion
The DS-1 remains the best-selling Boss compact pedal to this day. Its unchanged circuit delivers a hard attack with even sustain — a combination that has made the pedal an indispensable companion for almost four decades.
Eight More Effects
The following eight effects are also part of the PX-1 and can be assigned to the pedal's eight user memory slots. After registering the pedal with a free Roland account, you can load these effects into the PX-1 via the Boss Effect Loader software.

CE-2 Chorus
The CE-2 brought the sound of the CE-1 Chorus Ensemble — the first Boss pedal and the world's first chorus effect — into a smaller compact-pedal format. Its slightly less intense, modulated mono sound compared to the CE-1 shaped guitar tones on countless hits from the 1980s to today.

BF-2 Flanger
The original BF-2 hardware has been produced for more than 20 years and relies on a unique analog circuit based on a single BBD chip. The versatile effect produces a broad range of warm, modulated sounds — from metallic, phase-shifted textures to soft chorus and swirling vibrato sounds.

PN-2 Tremolo/Pan
The PN-2 combines tremolo and panning effects in one model. While the tremolo mode produces a tighter modulation than conventional circuits, the pan mode moves the audio across the entire stereo field. Triangle and square waveforms are available for different tonal characteristics.

OC-2 Octave
The original OC-2 was a groundbreaking octave pedal that used a completely analog circuit and a unique phase-inversion method to create particularly dynamic sounds. The OC-2 is ideal for adding a mono octave to instruments — bass players especially love it for creating sub-bass synth-like tones.

PS-2 Digital Pitch Shifter/Delay
Introduced in 1987, the PS-2 brought continuous pitch shifting into the compact-pedal format. The effect, with its 8-bit retro processing and digital vintage character, remains popular to this day. Three pitch modes are available: a manual mode for fine-tuning pitch across two octaves, plus dedicated octave-up and octave-down modes. The PS-2 also featured three delay modes with delay times from 30 ms up to two seconds.

VB-2 Vibrato
An underground classic from Boss, delivering warm, characterful sounds, gentle pitch modulation, and a rise-time function for dynamic control of the modulation onset. In addition to the normal toggle operation, an unlatch mode is available where the effect is active only while the pedal is held down.

DD-2 Digital Delay
Launched in 1983, the DD-2 was the world's first digital hardware delay in a stompbox format. Born in the early days of digital music technology, the DD-2 is still revered for its warm 12-bit sounds that sit perfectly in a mix.

DF-2 SUPER Feedbacker & Distortion
Compared to the DS-1 Distortion, the DF-2 offers more gain and a smoother attack. Its secret weapon is the Feedbacker function, which lets you enjoy sustained harmonic feedback from a cranked amp even at low volume — and even when playing with headphones. Hold the pedal or an external footswitch to activate the expressive sound while you play.

A Continuously Growing Universe
The PX-1 will be expanded with additional effects in the future — each available as an affordable Model Pass in the Boss Effect Loader software.
Timeless Boss Effects For Your DAW
With the Boss Effects Pedals plugin from Roland Cloud, all PX-1 effects are also available for computer-based music production. The PX-1 also includes a six-month Roland Cloud Ultimate membership, giving you access to the full Boss Effects Pedals library, the JC-120 Jazz Chorus and RE-201 Space Echo plugins, and many other powerful creative tools.
