DAW Auto-Mapping & Performance Control

A key feature is the OLED screen, making it easier than ever to browse and audition sounds, assign controls, and mix & edit your sessions. Hammer 88 Pro works with any DAW and automatically assigns frequently used functions like transport, faders, panning controls, and more! Whether MPC Beats, Cubase, Logic, Studio One, or another popular DAW, just select the map and Auto-Mapping handles the rest! All virtual instruments included in the Hammer 88 Pro software package (Hybrid, Velvet, Mini Grand, Xpand!2, Vacuum, Boom, and DB-33) are also assigned. These premium AIR Music Tech plugins can be fully controlled and used in real time while you create and mix music.

Smart Controls

Hammer 88 Pro includes M-Audio’s brand-new Smart Chord and Smart Scale technology. These features boost your creativity and help you seamlessly align the hardware across all 88 keys with your ideas. Thanks to these workflow-oriented functions, making music on your computer is now more intuitive and inspiring than ever before.

When Smart Chord is activated, pressing a single key or pad plays a full chord instead of just one note. The pressed key or pad determines the chord’s root note. The other chord properties (major, minor, etc.) are set by your chosen settings. Smart Chord also has a Custom Mode, letting you define the chord structure assigned to each key when played manually. For example, if you select Custom Mode and play a 1-b3-5-b7 chord, each key will be assigned that chord structure. The pressed key’s note serves as the chord’s root, and every parameter can be edited directly on the Hammer 88 Pro!

With Smart Scale technology, you can set the keyboard to play only notes from the selected scale. This lets you play within the chosen scale without the risk of "wrong" notes. You can choose from 16 different variations when assigning a scale to the keyboard. Smart Scale can be easily toggled on and off and allows scale parameter adjustments so you can fully focus on your creative process.

Professional Control

The Hammer 88 Pro features built-in functions essential for making modern music in pop, electro, hip-hop, and dance genres. Note Repeat and the integrated arpeggiator give you precise options for music production and live sound techniques, ensuring your music sounds professional.

With Note Repeat, you can hold down one of the specially designed M-Audio performance pads and hear a repeating rhythmic pattern in a selectable note value. Note Repeat can be activated in Momentary mode or used in Latch mode. In Momentary, you must hold the Note Repeat button for the note to repeat automatically while the pad is pressed. In Latch mode, pressing a pad causes the assigned note to repeat without holding the Note Repeat button.

The built-in Arpeggiator affects how virtual instruments in your DAW are played via the keys. When activated, the keyboard repeatedly plays the pressed keys in the set order. The arpeggiator’s timing and rhythm are based on the keyboard’s time division setting and the tempo set on the keyboard or your DAW. Each note in the arpeggio has the length chosen in the time division setting. For example, selecting 1/4 means each note in the arpeggio is a quarter note. This powerful tool can be used in either Latch or Momentary mode to suit your preferred style.

Next-Generation Piano Feel

The 88-key keyboard with graded hammer action combines professional weighted hammer keys with advanced high-speed scanning technology for an ultra-expressive playing experience. This specially designed keyboard also features assignable aftertouch, giving users additional expressive power and control. Assignable aftertouch lets you influence the sound of a virtual instrument plugin by continuously scanning how much pressure is applied to the key. This lets you naturally and quickly shape the mood, dynamics, and emotion you want to convey with your music.
