However, as of January 2025 with firmware 1.1.13, the device is missing an extremely important feature for me. I only found out about it when I looked for it in the operating instructions and couldn't find it:
No commands can be issued to the Ampero Control via the MIDi input (neither DIN nor USB). In the sense of none at all! Contrary to its labeling, the MIDI In only serves to loop received messages through to the connected devices. So it is really just a MIDI Thru. Who would think of such a thing?
An example of why this annoys me so much: You have programmed up to 99 banks (i.e. scenarios) on the Ampero Control. Each bank represents a song and sends all the necessary program changes and controllers to the connected devices. Fine. But now you want to switch from song/bank 001 to song/bank 056. How do you do that (without using the HOTONE app)? Well, by pressing the two buttons on the right 55 times ("Bank up"). The Ampero Control itself has no option to jump directly to any other bank.
At the moment, I have to use the app to put my bank playlist in the (hopefully) correct order before every rehearsal or performance so that I can manage with as few "bank up" actions as possible when playing. This can't be true! HOTONE, please come up with something. The Ampero Control should respond best to program change commands at the MIDI input, or it should offer 10-step jumps when changing banks, or at least a repeat function (by holding the buttons down longer) - or whatever.
As it is now, I can't use the Ampero Control as planned.
