The Tascam FR-AV2 is a compact and fully equipped audio recorder for sound recording in filmmaking, combining state-of-the-art 32-bit floating-point technology with timecode generation and synchronization. It not only delivers a significantly enhanced listening experience but also simplifies the entire process from recording to editing.
Recordings Without Clipping
Thanks to the advanced 32-bit float recording of the FR-AV2 with up to 192 kHz, you’ll never have to discard a recording due to distortion or too low a level again. When recording with lower bit depths, such as 24-bit and 16-bit, loud signal sources can cause digital clipping that cannot be corrected later.
The use of a dual analog/digital converter enables recordings with greater dynamic range and more transparency – so you can raise the level of dialogue scenes without degrading tone or dynamics.
Premium XLR/TRS Combo Inputs
Connect microphones and sources with professional line level directly to the two Ultra-HDDA preamps of the FR-AV2. With an extremely low equivalent input noise of only -127 dBu, you can record audio signals with maximum clarity and virtually noise-free.
Additionally, you have the option to use wireless microphones, lavalier microphones, and any other audio sources you might have in your arsenal via the stereo mini-jack input.
Ultimate Timecode Generation
With the FR-AV2, you reduce your camera gear and need to bring less equipment to shoots. The recorder sends and receives timecode via its mini-jack connectors for DSLR cameras and also supports jam-sync for external timecode devices.
With the optional Bluetooth adapter AK-BT2, timecode can also be wirelessly synchronized with supported UltraSync Blue devices from Atomos.
Bluetooth Monitoring
The optional Bluetooth adapter AK-BT2 lets you monitor sound wirelessly during events. Choose from three quality levels to ensure you get the best possible signal depending on the recording environment, including connection quality and sound quality.
Wired and Bluetooth monitoring work in parallel, so two people can listen in simultaneously.
