Oliver, from LOB - Live without band writes:
A column PA for the price, you are skeptical at first. After the box was delivered by express (just under 10€ surcharge) within less than 24h (Top!), I have the well-packaged part first "freed".
The material of the box does not make too high-quality impression, even less the two spacers and the top part with the 4 speakers.
Plugged onto the sub housing they sit very loose and wobbly. It could be a bit tighter.
Put into operation it was very fast, the battery 75% charged. Here we go...
A USB stick with Mucke plugged in, something on the controllers oriented and go. The sound is pleasant and there was a first positive nod. There's not much you can adjust, just more or less bass. Pairing with Bluetooth was just as quick and easy, a few favorite songs from the Spotify playlist and the volume control was turned up all the way. There were no ugly sounds or "help I'm finished", but the sound continued to be good. The final volume isn't a real head-turner, but it's okay.
Since we want to use the part for occasional performances in the registry office, church or times on the street, we have also tested this with micro, music from the tablet and a guitar. At the micro input, you have to choose between line and mic via a button. There is no tone control here either, only volume and effect. The effect in the form of a reverb was good and pleasant. When the music was played in via aux, it became quieter when the vocals were louder (as if the slider was turned down a bit to make an announcement). We didn't like that, since we work more often with playbacks via tablet. Fortunately, this did not happen with guitar via the second XLR input, nor when we fed in via a small external mixer. The final volume was also a bit higher here.
We can't say anything about the battery life yet. We still have to test this. Since the volume is certainly needed between 80 and 100% outdoors, we are curious. The built-in rechargeable battery (lead gel) is a good and inexpensive solution, since you can quickly get a replacement for little money and get a second charged battery as a reserve if necessary.
It should be mentioned that you can connect two speakers as stereo via Bluetooth (TWS). We could only test this briefly, since a second identical system from McGrey had a fault. However, it also sounded good.
With two XLR and jack inputs (can also be used simultaneously), a 3.5mm jack input, MP3 player with USB and SD card dock are enough connections available.
For the price, the system is a good approach and depending on the use, it is also worth considering. Here I would be willing for more quality also 100-150€ to put on it. However, I would not award more than 3*, because the system is only conditionally suitable for our purposes.
