Since its launch in 2001, the VOX Valvetronix series has continuously evolved, leading to the combination of advanced modeling technology with the "Valve Reactor" circuit, perfectly emulating the behavior of a tube amp.

With the VT20X/VT40X/VT100X amps, we introduce a brand-new modeling engine that is absolutely state-of-the-art in sound. Thanks to VET technology (Virtual Element Technology), based on the analysis of components and amp circuits, the VTX amps deliver an authenticity that is truly impressive. These amps also feature the multi-stage Valvetronix tube preamp.

This preamp partly relies on real analog circuits because they capture the tonal variations and nuances of a tube amp far better than any simulation. In addition to this sophisticated circuit, the VTX amps offer a closed cabinet and a bass reflex system that lets natural resonances flow freely. With VOX’s "Tone Room" software, you can even tweak and bend historical facts on a virtual level until the amp and effects sound exactly as you’ve always imagined.

VOX Valvetronix

The perfect combination of tube sound with modeling technology is primarily thanks to the VOX Valve Reactor technology introduced in 2001. Naturally, it has been refined multiple times since then to meet new sound demands, which in 2010 led to a performance boost for the VOX Valvetronix series—with more dynamics and a greater number of significantly improved amp models. From the handy VT20+ to the VT120+ with two speakers, the new VT+ Valvetronix series is designed so that all guitarists seeking maximum sound variety will find what they need here.

Tube-Driven VOX Valve Reactor Circuit

All guitarists dream of the punch and dynamics of a tube amp: they expect a fat sound, nuanced response to playing dynamics and picking attack, and quick response. During an in-depth analysis, VOX engineers discovered that the power amp primarily defines the tube character of an amp and developed the VOX Valve Reactor technology based on this finding. The Valve Reactor circuit in every VT+ amp, equipped with a 12AX7 tube, perfectly reproduces the behavior, subtle nuances, and tonal character of a tube amp.

More Amp Models Than Ever Before

The VT+ series amps come with 33 amp models—more than ever in a Valvetronix amp. Besides quantity, quality was a key focus in development. In addition to models of major VOX classics like the AC30, the range includes perfect emulations of all renowned amps in guitar history, including modern "high-gain" amps.

Many guitarists will find sounds here that made history long before they were born but are still considered essential tools by many "guitar heroes," while also being able to create new sounds needed for current productions. The preamp features a three-band EQ (BASS, MIDDLE, and TREBLE).

25 High-Quality Effects

VOX modeling amps naturally also offer effects that can be freely combined with amp models. Like the amp models, the effects in the VT+ series uncompromisingly focus on top quality. The effects are divided into two main groups: pedal effects like distortion, wah, and compressor on one hand, and modulation/delay (chorus, flanger, tape echo, etc.) on the other. Each section offers 11 effect types. Thanks to a well-thought-out parameter structure, you can select a different effect type and the appropriate parameter settings for each application in one step. This is complemented by three reverb types (Room, Spring, and Hall). Noise reduction is also included.

99 Presets

VOX musicians have prepared 99 presets that sound so good you can start playing right away. For each of the 33 amp models, there are 3 presets available: basic, with effect, and "song." The effect presets are tailored to typical music styles. Song presets follow the effect settings approach but refer to specific songs whose guitar sounds have gone down in history. Of course, you can also program and save your own sounds.

Technical Specs Are One Thing...

Compared to earlier VOX Valvetronix amps, the VT+ series boasts much more power. The power amp in these amps can deliver much higher output than the model name suggests (see the shaded POWER LEVEL control). Additionally, the VT+ series amps include a VOX speaker with new voicing that will delight you with attack speed and power. In other words: don’t focus too much on the numbers because the VT+ amps go far beyond them.

Top Performance in Every Respect

The "drive" of a tube power amp significantly contributes to the warmth and thickness of the guitar amp sound. These characteristics are perfectly implemented by the Valve Reactor circuit. With the VOLUME, GAIN, and MASTER VOLUME controls, you can set both the desired level and the amount of distortion in your sounds. Furthermore, the VT+ series amps feature a unique POWER LEVEL control that lets you reduce volume without changing "gain" and distortion. As mentioned earlier, the POWER LEVEL control can even unleash a power reserve when things get outrageously loud. Thanks to the POWER LEVEL control, you can use the full potential of the VT+ series in any situation.

Versatile Inputs and Outputs

The headphone jack can also be used as a line output. The signal here is processed with a speaker simulation, so even when using headphones or direct recording, you get a highly "acoustic" sound impression. You can connect a CD or MP3 player to the AUX jack to jam along with your favorite songs. A tuner function is also included—no separate tuner needed.

More Flexibility with a VFS5 Footswitch

If you add a VFS5 footswitch, you can conveniently call up sounds by foot, switch effect blocks on/off, and "tap" the tempo of compatible effects. This is practically indispensable for live use.
