For all friends of Celtic (and of course other) music, the 22-string Celtic Harp from Classic Cantabile offers feel-good sounds for everyone.

Typical design

Characteristic of the Celtic harp is the typical curved shape of the column, as it can also be found on the Irish coat of arms. Made of ash, the hooked harp has a tone range of 3 octaves (a - a³).

Tuning

The 22 strings are tuned diatonically in Eb major, with the blue and red strings showing where the notes C and F are located. The two tuning keys are used to tune the instrument: while the square key is applied to the tuning pegs, the hexagonal key serves the fine tuners on the opposite side.

Lever action

The special mechanism of this harp makes it a versatile accompanist in different keys. Every single string is equipped with a semitone key, which raises the tone of the respective string by a semitone when it is folded. Thus, with a few simple steps, you are also equipped for any cross-tone.

To avoid transport damage, the harp is sent with the levers folded up. So first of all all tuners are folded down so that all strings can swing freely. In this condition, the harp is then tuned to Eb major, and it is completely normal that the strings will need to be retuned regularly during the first few weeks. However, once the strings have stretched sufficiently, the tuning lasts even longer.
