Over a decade ago, the Recto underwent a massive facelift that greatly expanded its versatility, transforming it from a 2-channel amp focused solely on high gain into a 3-channel amp that masters any style.

The Dual Rectifier still leaves the widest and deepest footprint in heavy music and has also become the preferred amp for a long list of chart-toppers outside the heavy scene.

MESA’s Most Popular 4x12 Cabinet and a Heavy Music Icon!

The Recto 4x12 slant cabinets offer a “monitor” effect, as the top speakers tilt upward toward your ears. This can be an advantage when playing live. Other players prefer the straight cabinets, where all speakers are mounted on a single baffle and face the same direction, making them “coupled” for maximum punch and frontal projection. Whether slant or straight, when you play a Recto 4x12, your tone has the authority, clarity, and detail that only MESA Traditional or Standard 4x12 Rectifier Cabinets deliver.

All MESA cabinets are crafted from premium, void-free Baltic birch plywood in marine grade. Super-strong rabbeted corners are glued and nailed. The speaker baffles feature high-quality rabbet construction and bracing. The grille cloth is wrapped around a separate grille board, not the baffle board. The grille material is strong, twisted jute dipped in a special coating that filters upper frequencies for better tone.
