This limited 1960 Telecaster Custom merges a construction rooted in the early 1960s with a particularly striking Custom Shop specification. The double-bound alder body, the AAA rosewood fingerboard and the quartersawn maple neck evoke the more refined Telecaster Custom aesthetic of that era — distinct from the purer Standard Telecaster while remaining true to its clear form language. As a 2022 Fall Event Limited Edition, this specification is not part of the regular production line but represents a clearly defined special run from the Fender Custom Shop.

Heavy Relic With Multi-Layer Character

The two-piece alder body was selected for low weight. Defining this instrument is the multi-layer finish concept, where the aged top coat and the underlying lacquer layer are deliberately set in relation by the pronounced Heavy Relic treatment. Nitrocellulose is an integral part of the finish and underlines the historically oriented character. The parchment binding on the top and back fully frames the body and is one of the characteristic details of the Telecaster Custom idea from this era.

A Sturdy Neck For This Special Spec

The quartersawn maple neck features a pronounced Large C profile and carries a selected AAA rosewood fingerboard. This keeps the guitar firmly rooted in Fender's early-1960s language while giving it a distinct voice within that framework. Vintage clay dots, the classic Telecaster headstock and aged vintage tuners carry the historic approach through to the smallest details.

Hand-Wound '58 Tele Single Coils

At neck and bridge you'll find two Fender Custom Shop Hand-Wound '58 Tele single coils. Together with the Fat-'50s-Tele wiring, the classic 3-way switch and one volume and one tone control, the electronics remain deliberately focused. Instead of extra switching options, this instrument centers a tradition-oriented Telecaster configuration. The Tele 60 WO PU Gatton Relic bridge, aged chrome/nickel hardware and the three-ply '63 Tele pickguard consistently continue this approach.
