Les Paul Custom 70s Buttercream Maple Neck!

The Les Paul Custom was first introduced in 1953 as the premium version of the Les Paul model. The model was commissioned by Les Paul himself, who wanted a black version of the Les Paul guitar that "looked like a tuxedo." In 1961, the Les Paul Custom with a single cutaway was discontinued in favor of a new double-cut model that later became known as the SG Custom, and the original single-cut model was reintroduced in 1968.

In the 1970s production of the Les Paul Custom moved from Kalamazoo to Nashville, and the Les Paul Custom received various changes that further refined the model, including a multi-piece maple top that replaced the original mahogany construction, as well as a new maple neck. Today, these 1970s Les Paul Customs are among the fastest-appreciating guitars on the vintage market. After the Les Paul Custom was offered exclusively through Gibson Custom for 20 years, Gibson is now proud to introduce the Les Paul Custom 70s. It features classic 1970s specifications, including a mahogany body with a three-piece maple top.

The body features 5-ply top binding and 3-ply back binding. The maple neck has a 70s profile and a volute and is fitted with a bound ebony fretboard with 22 medium-jumbo frets and mother-of-pearl block inlays. The bound headstock is also adorned with the mother-of-pearl famous Custom split-diamond headstock inlay, which originated on the Gibson Super 400 and has become synonymous with the Les Paul Custom. The Les Paul Custom 70s sports gold hardware, including an aluminum Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge, an aluminum stop bar tailpiece, and smooth-operating Grover Rotomatic tuners with keystone buttons for reliable tuning stability. Even the smallest details were faithfully reproduced, including Posi-Lok strap locks, a 5-ply pickguard and witch-hat control knobs in the style of the 70s.

The electronics are period-correct as well, with two calibrated T-Type humbuckers wired with individual volume and tone controls, hand-wired with Orange Drop capacitors. The Les Paul Custom 70s is available in four glossy nitrocellulose finishes, including Ebony, Tobacco Burst, Wine Red and even a version with a beautiful Buttercream top. Each guitar ships in a hardshell case to protect it during storage and transport. The wait is over — the Les Paul Custom is back in the Gibson USA range and ready to rock your world!

I had a Gibson Les Paul Custom in 1974, but unfortunately I sold it, and I've had about 50 different guitars to date, so now it should be a Les Paul Custom again.
The 70 S is a dream.and affordable.the workmanship is flawless.the sound is typical, humbucker, but a little softer than the other Les Pauls I had before.that's good, because I usually play country music or CCR.I think this is the last electric guitar, because you can't improve on it.a real masterpiece.quite heavy at 4.65 kg.but that's right.Gibson did everything right.

Noble piece! Perfectly finished, optimally adjusted and a very high-quality Paula. The sound is a little hotter than the 50s Paulas and very transparent. The guitar is brutally heavy, significantly more than my 60s before. Comes with a sturdy case and accessories, but without custom signature or plate or similar. Nevertheless, a fine guitar at an admittedly high price.
