Die Gibson Les Paul Classic kombiniert das Les Paul-Modell der frühen 60er Jahre mit einigen funktionalen und bewährten Modifikationen.
Wie erwartet ist die LP Classic mit einem Mahagoni-Body und einer Ahorn-Decke, einem Slim Taper Mahagoni-Hals und einem gebundenen Griffbrett aus Palisander gefertigt. Die Burstbucker 61R und 61T Open Coil Pickups bieten klassische Gibson-Sounds aus dieser Zeit, mit etwas mehr Punch dank der offenen Spulen. An Reglern verfügt die LP Classic über vier Push-Pull Pots, die eine Auswahl an Coil-Tapping, Phasenumkehr und Bypass für funktionelle und vielseitige Klangvielfalt bieten.

Variant Gibson Les Paul Classic Translucent Cherry
I noticed this LP Classic, not a Standard, but at a more reasonable price (in Cherry Red) and decided to go for it. The first impressions blew me away, a super case and a beautiful guitar. That feel, that weight, that smell. Plugged it in, 'Wow, it's a Les Paul!' There is nothing that is quite like it, it's a dream.
Unfortunately there were some processing flaws which are common with Gibson it seems. I thought about sending it back but with some help from the wonderful customer support staff at Kirstein I decided to keep it, and I am glad that I did. It is a delight to play, easier and faster than I thought it would be. And that sound!
The pickups are quite powerful and focused, they do Rock n Roll really well. Cleans also sing, sustain is long. I have to say I don't see the advantage of the Standard for an extra 500-700 Euros unless that's the only one you want. The push/pull knobs here are really useful but you don't have to use them if you don't want to, the weight relief helps (this one is already 4.2kg), and the plain maple top is really quite beautiful with natural grain coming through. The pickups are the same as the 60s Standard.
