Die RGD ist die ultimative Metal-Maschine von Ibanez. Die Anforderungen des Downtunings erfordern ein speziell entwickeltes Ansprechverhalten, das man bei "normalen" Gitarren nicht findet.
Um den satten, wünschenswerten, dicken Ton zu optimieren, den das Down-Tuning erzeugt, hat Ibanez den Hals um einen Zoll auf eine 26,5"-Mensur verlängert. Länger als der Standard, aber nicht übermäßig lang. Der Hals ist immer noch ein "schneller" Hals für schnelles Solospiel. Extra tiefe Cutaways ermöglichen einen bequemen Zugang zu den höchsten Tönen des Halses.
