This cymbal arm, along with the slightly smaller SC-4425MB, gives me the right dimensions and useful product features. What this means compared to others, here in detail from a to e:
(a) Many cymbal arms are either too heavy. On Yamaha 600 and 700 hardware - otherwise lightweights - the joints are heavier than the tubes.
(b) Others are oversized. Then either the too-long stand pipes or overlong cantilevers get in the way, or at least make the hardware case unnecessarily heavy.
(c) Many other cymbal arms require special cymbal sleeves, e.g. after normal wear and tear. At least some others need threaded sleeves (Yamaha) or custom sizes (Tama). For the Gibraltar cymbal holders, a normal short sleeve with 8mm diameter will do. By the way, you can also shorten threaded sleeves with a saw or bread knife, if you only have very long sleeves.
(d) The stand tube is 7/8" (22,2mm). It fits on my tripods (using Yamaha TH-904) and also on all Pearl rack clamps.
(e) The retractable boom is useful when it really only needs to go up vertically. This happens rather rarely, but when it does, the weight of the cymbal arm is still bearable even with the retractable boom.
I have several of these two cymbal holders on the drum set, and for exactly the above reasons a to e.
