Meinl Percussion Cocktail Cajon Kit with Pickup!
The MEINL Cocktail Cajon Kit offers players a wide sound palette: from bass and snare to bongo and tom sounds, all instruments in a wooden cajon style. At the heart of this kit is the MEINL Cocktail Cajon, played as a kick drum.
The included MEINL Pickup Snare, Pickup Bongo Cajon (high and low sound), and Pickup Tom Tap can be mounted on the kit to create a full cajon set sound. Each of these three add-ons includes its own L-rod, which attaches to the cajon with standard ring screw mounts.
In addition to the cajon drums, this kit comes with a foot pedal and a soft foam cajon beater as well as special Husk Brushes. The brushes deliver a soft yet precise, percussive sound.
Each drum in the cocktail cajon kit is equipped with its own piezo pickup and a high-quality output jack (jack), allowing you to connect the entire set and selectively increase volume when additional amplification is needed (audio cable not included).
Guitar/Instrument Cable Included
The Stage INST cables are professional guitar/instrument cables with high-quality jack plugs and gold-plated tips. This ensures low conductor capacitance and reliable audio transmission.

What spoiled my enjoyment after setting up the drums without any problems was that the small snare cajon hardly cuts through (without amplification) and it buzzed unpleasantly with amplification. I was able to suppress this in my DAW with a plug-in - but it was still annoying. So I looked into it, but couldn't find out what the problem was. So the options were to return it (not the only reason) or open it ... I opted for the latter. When I had removed the striking surface, I saw what the problem was: there is a wide rubber band at one end of the Cajon to dampen the snare carpet - but the ends of the carpet vibrated freely against the wood, so I placed them under the wide rubber band and screwed the striking surface with the pickup back on. - The noise disappeared and the snare responds better.
About the foot machine - What I like and why I decided on this kit: wire-guided models are not really suitable for playing fast figures. I am therefore pleased that Meinl has developed this system ( double + for the purchase decision ) The foot machine can be adjusted well and is usable so far, but very noisy. After lubrication it got better, but the beater made noises on the wood (like smacking sounds - maybe because it was still new and not roughened by use) which were even audible over the pickups. My solution was to wrap the beater in a small soft cloth and fasten it with Velcro.
The system of attaching the foot machine also allows you to use your own foot machines (e.g. directly driven) with the soft, wide Meinl beater. I use the kit with my hi-hat, the ride cymbal and a splash from my drum set. The pickup is provided by the built-in pickups, two overhead microphones (actually only for the cymbals) and a large-diaphragm (room) microphone.
Manufacturing quality: When opening the snare, it became apparent that some of the screws are slanted (without any recognizable system) in the wood. The body of the bass cajon has a small unfilled dent that was simply painted over. On closer inspection, I also discovered small dents like this on other parts of the kit. But it doesn't bother me - you can hardly see it on the black. Otherwise as described above...
The cable set from Pronomic matches the look, is absolutely sufficient in size and of good quality. I would like three of the four cables to have angled jack plugs on one side (for tom, snare and bongo). Since the output in the Bass Cajon is recessed, I think the straight jack plug is the first choice here.
