Interchangeable Drum-Head for Your Iconic Cajón!
Inspired by the "Mshondo" — a tall, slender drum played by the Giriama people that produces a beautiful, rounded tone. This take on the tribal drum is crafted from untreated goatskin to deliver a deeper frequency response.
It sits beautifully in contrast to the other íons in the lineup and gives you the chance to create a highly satisfying counterpoint to both the Cajón and the other íons while playing. Aesthetically and sonically, every player will want the Kenyan íon in their collection.
Installation is straightforward: using the Allen key supplied with the Iconic Cajón (usually stored at the sound hole on the bottom), loosen the 8 screws, insert the íon, then re-tighten the screws.
You can alter the skin tension—and thus the tone—by adjusting the screws. The tighter the screws, the higher the pitch. Try experimenting with a quarter to a half turn per screw and listen until the sound pleases you. Make sure, however, that the íon isn't too loose.
