Six Tracks. More Possibilities!
The H6essential is Zoom's most rugged handheld recorder and delivers 32-bit float recording on six tracks in outstanding quality.
The H6essential is our toughest handheld recorder and a real powerhouse for recording. With 32-bit float recording on six tracks, the H6essential delivers unprecedented quality and maximum versatility.
The First Accessible Handheld Recorder
The Essential series was designed to be accessible for visually impaired users. Menu navigation provides audible guidance through the built-in speaker or headphones. Creators can choose between English, Spanish, French, Japanese, German, Italian and Chinese.
Six Tracks for Perfection
The four XLR/TRS combo inputs feature extremely clean Zoom preamps, while the included X/Y microphones can handle sound pressure levels up to 135 dB SPL — equivalent to a jet taking off.
Next-Generation Capsule System 3.0
The H6essential's 3.0 capsule system has been redesigned to support 32-bit float technology and give creators extra options to choose the right microphone for their recordings.
32-Bit Float Recorder
Thanks to 32-bit float technology and two A/D converter stages, the H6essential delivers an extremely wide dynamic range during recording. That gives users the ability to capture audio perfectly and distortion-free at any time.
XYH-6e Stereo Mic Capsule
Adds two high-quality microphones in an X/Y stereo arrangement. This configuration can capture sounds directly in front of the device with maximum sensitivity and delivers a clean stereo image.
SSH-6e Stereo Shotgun Capsule
The SSH-6e integrates an extremely directional microphone for capturing center signals and a bidirectional microphone for recording the left and right sides. The mid-side stereo image can be set from mono to an extreme stereo width. You can record dialogue with the middle microphone and then mix in the ambience captured by the side mic as needed.
EXH-6e Input Capsule
If you need more inputs, simply attach the EXH-6e capsule with two XLR/TRS combo inputs. You can connect two additional microphones, instruments or line sources. If you connect power to the capsule's USB-C port, it can even supply phantom power. A 3.5 mm mini-jack is also available for connecting line or mic signals with plug-in power for lavalier microphones.
For Musicians
The H6essential is a portable studio. Mic up to four instruments via the XLR inputs and use the X/Y microphones to record an entire ensemble in impressive stereo quality.
Remove the Microphones
If you don't need the X/Y mic, remove the capsule and use the supplied cover for a discreet setup.
Record and Stream
Use the H6essential as a 32-bit float interface for your computer or mobile device while simultaneously recording all six tracks to an SD card.
For Filmmakers
32-bit float recording gives filmmakers maximum safety on every take. The swappable capsules, four XLR inputs and wireless timecode handling make the H6essential an indispensable tool on any set.
For Podcasters
When everyone wants to join your podcast, the H6essential is well equipped with four XLR inputs. The optional EXH-6e capsule can be added for two extra XLR inputs.
Waveform Display
The H6essential offers a waveform display so you can see the audio signal while recording.
Integrated Mixer
For maximum control over your mix, press the "Mixer" button and adjust levels in no time.
Pairing
Using the BTA-1* Bluetooth adapter, you can pair with your iOS device to remotely start recording, adjust the mix, display waveforms and change other settings.
Timecode Sync
With the BTA-1* Bluetooth adapter you can also pair with Bluetooth-enabled timecode devices for audio and video synchronization.
Quieter Controls
To reduce handling noise and achieve quieter operation, the recording controls and rotary encoders have been carefully redesigned.
Internal Speaker
For quick checks you can monitor your recordings via the improved internal speaker.
Outputs
Use the line output to connect to a camera and the headphone output to monitor audio signals.
Improved Display
The new full-color LCD screen delivers a more vivid display for recording and menu navigation.
