The DM-58 is suitable for a wide range of applications. Whether as a vocal microphone on stage or as a speech microphone for readings, in churches or schools, the DM-58 delivers reliable performance and easy handling in every situation. It also handles close miking of louder instruments such as guitar amplifiers or drums/percussion without problems.
Balanced Sound
The DM-58 offers a very smooth frequency response, providing excellent speech intelligibility and brilliance. Using an equalizer is generally unnecessary. The good transient response places vocals and speech clearly in the mix, and the pop filter integrated into the grille minimizes plosives (P, B, T, etc.) and wind noise in advance, usually eliminating the need for a high-pass filter.
Optimal Feedback Protection
The DM-58's supercardioid pattern provides optimal feedback reduction when using stage monitors. The least sensitive direction (off-axis) is not, as with a cardioid, directly behind the mic but about 120° outside the on-axis direction. This effectively mutes monitors.
What Can I Connect the DM-58 To?
As a dynamic microphone, the DM-58 can be connected to any microphone input on mixing consoles, active speaker systems, audio interfaces and other amplifiers. 48V phantom power is not required, but it will not harm the microphone in any way. The microphone is not suitable for direct connection to a computer; a USB interface is required for that.
