The Full Spectrum of Sounds!
The opsix mkII is a digital synthesizer like no other. Based on the original opsix, polyphony has been doubled to an impressive 64 voices! The result is outstanding performance with precise control over every sound-shaping parameter. The opsix's operator mixer made FM synthesis especially accessible, transparent and intuitively controllable for the first time. With its additional synthesis and programming capabilities it offered an exceptionally efficient workflow for creating unique sounds. Moreover, the opsix mkII is fully compatible with the sounds of the original opsix, opsix SE and the opsix native software, as well as the many third-party opsix mkII sound libraries.
Expanded 64-Voice Polyphony
The opsix mkII features 64 voices, twice the 32 voices of the original version. That lets you pursue expansive sound experiments without worrying about voices cutting out. Also, the markings of the operator mixer—one of the opsix mkII's key interface features—are executed in the new green color.
The Operator Mixer Brings Clarity
The heart of every sound on the opsix mkII is the unique operator mixer—a clear, approachable combination of six faders and knobs that invites sonic exploration. Each of the six parts is illuminated and gives visual feedback through its color: audible signals glow red, while modulators are highlighted in blue. Changing these controls instantly reshapes the current sound, injecting fresh energy into your musical ideas. This straightforward, easy-to-follow workflow is what makes the opsix mkII special—besides its extraordinary sounds, of course.

Everything Within Easy Reach
Whether you want to adapt a finished preset to your own needs or build completely original sounds from scratch—the six flexible data entry knobs give you lightning-fast access to all key parameters and work seamlessly with the large OLED display to provide a perfect overview at all times and enable an unrestricted creative workflow. In combination with the operator mixer, creating new sounds becomes child’s play—and a whole lot of fun!
Choose from a wide range of filters modeled on classic designs, such as the radical KORG MS-20 low- and high-pass filters or the powerful yet silky Polysix low-pass filter, which lends your sound a delightful vintage character. There are also resonant two- and four-pole low-pass, high-pass, band-pass and even band-reject filters to choose from. For instant visual feedback during sound design, a built-in spectrum analyzer and a classic oscilloscope are available in the display.
Six Synthesis Types in One Instrument
The basic principle of the opsix mkII can only be described as expansive. Because it allows waveforms to be arranged and modulated in almost infinite ways, the opsix mkII easily produces sounds from a wide variety of synthesis types. Equipped with all these possibilities, the opsix mkII has everything it takes to become a modern classic for extravagant sound design.

Subtractive Synthesis
Individual components of a sound are deliberately removed to shape a new desired sound. This synthesis type is the most widespread. For this the opsix mkII offers up to six envelopes and various filter models to achieve countless classic and novel sounds.

Semi-Modular Synthesis
Manipulating the signal path to change the sound. Choosing different algorithms dramatically alters the character of the source sound. And the best part: you don't even need patch cables for this!

Analog Modeling
Analog-style controls and a large pool of stackable waveforms make it quick and easy to switch from the digital realm to an analog feel and back again. Generate ultra-deep basses, brilliant leads, warm pad sounds, classic vintage brass tones, and much more...

Waveshaping
Intentionally adding distortion to waveforms to generate aggressive overtones that can be harmonic or inharmonic. This creates particularly edgy, biting sounds full of character.

Additive Synthesis
Layering waveforms and mixing their overtones is the key to a vast palette of harmonic, dissonant and exciting timbres. With six operators available, you can fully explore the FM domain. Take a journey through iconic synthesizer sounds that have shaped music for decades.

Classic FM Synthesis
Last but not least, the opsix mkII's highly flexible and powerful synthesis architecture delivers true six-operator FM synthesis. That makes it easy to authentically reproduce the legendary signature sounds heard on countless hit records since the 1980s—now with significantly higher polyphony than many standalone FM synths available today!
Everything's Different Thanks to Altered FM
What began as an idea to revive a classic synthesis method quickly evolved in a completely different direction. The basis of the opsix mkII sound engine is FM, but the similarities to that synthesis form practically end there. The Altered FM architecture delivers a huge palette of sounds—more versatile than almost any single synthesis method before it. With the additional waveforms, filters, waveshapers, effects, LFOs, envelopes, modulations and more, you can realize an almost endless variety of new and never-before-heard sounds.

Powerful Effects Processors
The opsix mkII offers three effect blocks that can be used simultaneously, each loaded with 30 high-resolution effects. These make it easy to further refine your sounds and take them to a new level. The rich effects selection mixes essential staples like Chorus, Phaser, Delay and Compressor with more specialized studio-quality tools such as shimmer reverbs that open entirely new dimensions for your sounds.
Polyphonic Motion Sequencing
The opsix mkII is equipped with an extremely versatile step sequencer whose flexibility and deep features can put many grooveboxes to shame. A single press of the PLAY button recalls complex sequences with constantly evolving sounds. Every sound program already includes its own sequence, but of course you are free to program your own sequences.
Up to six notes can be programmed per step, and for each note you can edit velocity value, gate time and playback timing. This produces long phrases or subtle timing shifts—useful for guitar-style picking patterns or drum rolls—that a conventional 16-step sequencer simply can't deliver. The opsix mkII's motion sequencer also allows recording automations for up to six different parameters, animating subtle tonal nuances or even creating complex rhythm patterns whose sound changes drastically per step.

Flexible Modulation Matrix
The modulation possibilities on the opsix mkII are truly extraordinary. With six different operator modes and 40 preset algorithms plus the ability to create entirely custom algorithms, the opsix mkII provides an almost inexhaustible arsenal of sonic tools. The synthesis is further fueled by processors at the end of the signal chain. The MOD section operates independently from the six operators and delivers three envelopes, three LFOs and twelve virtual patches for immense routing options. With this setup you can effortlessly create sprawling modulations for wavering soundscapes or sounds with pronounced rhythmic character.
Chance Comes Into Play
For special inspiration, the clever randomize function can help. By simply pressing the button marked with the dice symbol, the synth's sound parameters are literally "shuffled" at random, producing entirely new, unique sounds. This randomize function can be applied to all parameters at once or only to the operators, the algorithm, or the stored sequence. In this way, "happy little accidents" can yield fantastic new sounds—or at the very least useful starting points for further sound design.

Free Librarian Software
The opsix librarian software lets you manage sounds on a USB-connected opsix mkII from your computer and transfer individual sound data between the opsix mkII and the connected computer.
Free Software Bundle
The opsix mkII ships with a selection of music software, including "Ozone Elements" from iZotope for AI-based mastering of your own tracks, a trial subscription to the piano learning software "Skoove", and software instruments from KORG and other manufacturers. In other words: the moment you hold this instrument, you'll also have access to a versatile selection of software products that can help take your music to the next level.
