The American Vintage II series brings Fender's icons from the '50s, '60s and '70s back. And when Fender says "vintage", they don't just mean the look. They actually build the instruments exactly to the specifications of the original models that have inspired generations of players across all styles.
The Fender American Vintage II series doesn't just mirror the historic designs that made music history. Many period-correct details have been faithfully reproduced: bodies, necks and hardware, premium finishes and pickups that are carefully voiced to the tone of the original model year. Each instrument embodies the authentic character and sound of its original thanks to traditional Fender craftsmanship.
The 1957 Stratocaster
With its seductive curves, crystal-clear tones and pioneering tremolo bridge, the Fender 1954 Stratocaster was a phenomenon. The world had never seen or heard anything like it. By 1957 the Stratocaster had evolved further and is still regarded as a masterpiece after half a century.
Three Pure Vintage '57 Stratocaster pickups, the flowing body contours and an exceptionally playable V-profile neck with a maple fretboard and a 7.25" radius — the American Vintage II 1957 Stratocaster delivers the tone and feel of the original. Other details: historically correct synchronized tremolo with cold-rolled steel block and bent steel saddles, "Fender Deluxe" single-line tuners and a single-ply pickguard.
Glossy Nitrocellulose Finish
Nitrocellulose lacquer was used on Fender guitars and basses in the '50s and '60s. It's an ultra-light premium finish that supports the instrument's natural resonance rather than hindering it.
Body Made of Alder
Alder has beautiful grain and produces very musical resonance. The wood offers a balanced tone with strong mids and a solid low end.
Maple Fretboard with 7.25" Radius
The 7.25" radius fretboard provides a comfortable, "typical vintage" playing feel. The Vintage Tall frets make precise bending easier.
Neck in 1957 V Profile
Vintage neck profiles vary widely. That's because Fender developed several variations over the decades. Each instrument in the American Vintage II series is fitted with the exact neck profile of the original model.
Pure Vintage '57 Stratocaster Pickups
The Pure Vintage pickups are voiced and built to match the sound and performance of the original model year. Construction and materials are also identical to the pickups from Fender's golden years, using cloth-covered wire, vulcanized fiber bobbins and Alnico magnets, for example.
