Suddenly you feel a song that wants to be played... Dare to put your ideas out into the world and let iconic Fender sound and style inspire you. The Player II Mustang Bass PJ is a spirited, versatile bass with modern features that will inspire and push you forward.
The Player II Mustang Bass PJ embodies pure, timeless Fender charm. Under the hood it's thoroughly modern. Every detail is optimized for smooth playability. The neck in a modern C profile with a silky satin urethane back finish wears a maple or rosewood slab fingerboard with a 9.5" radius, gently rolled edges, and 20 medium-jumbo frets. The classic alder body is available in the beloved timeless Fender finishes or in brand-new historic colors freshly pulled from the archive.
Equipped with a Player Series Alnico V P-Bass split-coil and a J-Bass single-coil, you essentially get two basses in one, offering sweet highs, snarly, present midrange and earth-shaking low end. Both pickups can be switched via a 3-way toggle. An adjustable bridge with four individual notched steel saddles and open-back tuners keep the strings exactly where they belong.

The strings had to come off straight away, of course, because they weren't short-scale strings, but long-scale wires cut to size. Probably not from the current Fender production, as one might expect.
It was noticeable that Kirstein had probably not done any setup: The truss rod lay deeply relaxed in its bed, the fingerboard was powder dry. How good that I can take something like this into my own hands!
